“We Sober Agnostics” is cogent, direct, clear, informative, helpful, and eminently logical. It’s a great help for those who need the growth-producing process of the twelve steps, but are deterred by the references to God, which may be a source of pain and fear for them. (This book) gives very helpful alternative interpretations of the steps which help non-believers to restructure the spiritual language of the steps into logical sense. I especially love the "fixing a computer without reading the instructions" analogy, as well as "It's not a search for moral failures. It's a search for flawed thinking."
I will recommend it to my clients who are in recovery and struggling with the idea of God being in charge, when the idea of God may have been a source of pain for them in their history. Very highly recommended to anyone who is searching for a more rational approach to the twelve steps.
